Battalion, Sixth MarinesOvercoat, size 3-L, with 1918-19 QM stamp, shoulder patch, rear belt, and one six-monthoverseas service stripe on left sleeve. NICE supple wool; warmest coat that Ive ever worn. Fits well over a shirt, but with more layers/anything heavier, probably for a 38. Length from top of collar (back): 50 ½.
Since nothing this old is perfect, as you can see. There are loose threads around the button-holes. Better repair can be done to the inside shoulder/arm-hole area.
The one neck-hook (right side if youre wearing it) has been re-inforced by dark thread to keep it in place. There is wear to the neck area. A button is lacking to secure a flap that connects at the bottom of the coat. A button is lacking on the right side to which the mouth-guard flap would attach was there a need for this button since the flap already attaches to the other? Otherwise, looks great & if you are into this, you know more about it than I do, so ask away.
