WW1 BRITISH ARMY HELMET. COMPLETE & ORIGINAL. STILL RETAINS PAPER LABLE
A fine WW1 British Army helmet in very good condition. It has its period coat of factory Army green paint which is mostly present & in very good condition, please see pics. The shell is fine with no dents.
The stamping on the underside brim shows'MLS II'. (The numbers refer to the batch of metal used).
The lining is in very good condition (slightly collapsed) & still retains the very rare original paper instruction label. These (British) labels were manufactured from paper & hardly survived after time & use. (The American labels however were reinforced with a fabric type of material giving them strength & longevity). The stamping on the leather liner strap shows size 7. There is the standard red'Brodie' stamping on the inside of the liner. This is the early liner with no rubber'doughnut' under the felt oval crown cushion. The chinstrap is fine with one repair at the mount end (hardly seen).
