An original World War One British Brodie Helmet manufactured by Hadfield Ltd of Sheffield and issued to a soldier from the American 36th Infantry Division. When the Americans joined the First World War in 1917, and before they had began production of their own M1917 helmets, they took supply of 400,000 British Mark I Brodie helmets. This is one of these helmets.The helmet retains most of its original external and internal paintwork and has the insignia of the 36th infantry division to the front. The shell is maker marked HS 508.
The helmet retains its original liner although this is in a damaged condition and only held in place on one rivet - please see photos.
