HE SERVED WITH THE 7TH BN ROYAL SUSSEX REGIMENT AS PART OF KITCHENERS NEW ARMY. HE ENLISTED AT BEDFORD AND LIVED IN A SMALL VILLAGE HAMERTON HUNTS CAMBRIDGESHIRE. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT HOME AS A RESULT OF FIGHTING WITH THE 12TH EASTERN DIVISION ON THE SOMME. FIRST SEEING ACTION ON 2ND JULY 1916 AT LA BOSSEILLE, MOUQUET FARM AND BUTTE DE WALLENCOURT. HE WAS WOUNDED AT ONE OF THESE ACTIONS DURING JULY OR AUGUST AND WAS SENT HOME WHERE HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON THE 17TH JANUARY 1917 IN HOSPITAL IN LEICESTER. HIS BODY WAS SENT HOME AND HE IS BURIED IN HIS VILLAGE CHURCH WITH HIS MOTHER AND FATHER. HE WAS SHOWN AS A FARM LABOURER PRIOR TO ENLISTMENT.
