An original hard to find British Mk1 Steel helmet with its liner and chin strap intact and in great condition. This example was issued to a US serviceman. It is known that when the US entered the war that the British handed over 400000 helmets to the US until they could bring their own P17 model online.
This one has the owners name painted under the rim - Lt Home C. Young of the US Engineers.
Stamped D/F 14 indicating that the helmet was made by James Dixon & Sons and the steel was rolled by Thomas Firth & Sons. Batch number 14 which I believe is a very early manufacture run. The red War Office stamp is present.
A great example with known lineage. The item "WW1 British Mk 1 Steel Helmet (Brodie Helmet ANZAC)" is in sale since Friday, January 4, 2019.
