WW1 BRITISH OR AUSTRALIAN ARMY 1897 PATTERN INFANTRY NCO'S SWORD & SCABBARD
The sword features a wire bound fish skin grip, mounted onto an all chequered back strap and non pierced bowl guard, featuring the royal cypher of King George V. The nickel finish overall is very good to outer bowl, showing one patch of plate loss and showing similar plate loss wear to inner bowl. The blade is an 83 cm straight blade, showing issue stamps and dates for 1915. No engraving's, meaning this was an NCO's service sword, which are hardly ever seen. No damage to the blade which must rate 9.5/10.
The leather service scabbard is in very good serviceable condition, with some light patch wear overall. Maker marked for Wilkinson Pall Mall and arrow stampe & 1 to reverse and to locket. Generally, a good condition/used sword, which would be a great addition to your collection. We bought this through our shop, so this may have been worn by an Australian NCO, however we have no other information on the original owner. Check out my other items.
