This is my grandfather's World War I uniform - and it's an amazing piece of history. A farm boy in northern Vermont during the early years of the war, he went to his uncle's home in Montreal, Quebec and enlisted in the Canadian army in July 1917. His uniform includes insignias and badges of the Royal Montreal Regiment, 14th Canadian Battalion - and a CEF war and victory ribbon above the left breast pocket. THIS AMAZING UNIFORM INCLUDES JACKET, HAT, PANTS, BUTTONS, BADGES, INSIGNIA PATCHES AND RIBBONS. The 258th Battalion was a unit of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WW1.
Montreal, Quebec, the unit began recruiting in the spring of 1917 and sailed to England in October 1917, where it was merged into other battalions. For being nearly 100 years old, this uniform is in very good shape. As the pictures show, there are some small moth holes on the jacket and pants, and there's a stain on the pocket below the military ribbon. The badges, buttons, insignia patches and ribbon are all in great shape and tell the history of this amazing uniform and era. Good luck and thanks for looking!
