Written on the clock is the imperial crown and'm' symbol, the number'3889' and the words'Franz Happe Kiel'. The case is of brass. The clock has a stepped wooden base. There is a marking of'2324451' on the back of the clock. There is also a 14 stamped at the 11 o'clock position on the inner bezel and both a 14 over 14 and 7 over 7 on the lock plate. The base has a width of 16.1 inches (41 cm) and a height of 8.6 inches (22 cm). It weighs 3.8 Kg.
