The helmet has been roughly brush painted with dark green paint over what appears to be an earlier coat of slightly lighter green , I believe the dark green paint of wartime period so the helmet may have been reissued at some point. The inside of the helmet has only one red tie remaining from the liner pads & a large white'B' can be seen painted into the crown which may have been the soldiers initial. Stamped in black ink on the metal band is the size'64' with what then appears to be' PCB 18'. All of the three liner pins are intact. I can just about make out a very faint maker mark to the inside rim however unfortunately cannot read it.
It is in good condition with the leather of the chinstrap still supple & not dry , there is a small amount of very subdued non obvious blue paint spray around the split pin holes , I have no idea why. The item "WW1 M18 Imperial German Helmet" is in sale since Wednesday, May 04, 2016.
