ONE OF HIM AS A YOUNGER MAN HAVING JUST JOINED AND THE OTHER WHICH SHOWS HIM TO BE WEARING HIS 1914 STAR RIBBON AND TWO WOUND STRIPES!

THE MEDALS HAVE HAD SOME RESEARCH DONE BY THE FAMILY WHICH COMES WITH THE MEDALS. THE MEDAL INDEX CARD CONFIRMS HIS ENTITLEMENT TO THE MM AND WAR AND VICTORY MEDALS.

HE IS SHOWN AS GOING TO FRANCE ON 17TH AUGUST 1914 WITH THE 26 FIELD COMPANY RE (MEDAL CARD FOR 22855 BUCKLEY) ATTACHED TO THE 1ST DIVISION.

SO TOOK PART IN ALL THE EARLY BATTLES "RETREAT FROM MONS, ". HE WAS GAZETTED FOR THE MILITARY MEDAL ON 29TH AUGUST 1918 SO WAS MOST PROBABLY AWARDED FOR AN ACT OF GALLANTRY DURING THE BIG GERMAN ADVANCES IN MARCH APRIL OR MAY 1918.

HIS MILITARY MEDAL SHOWS HIM AS ACTING SERGEANT 231 FIELD COMPANY RE. ACCORDING TO THE FAMILY NOTES HE WAS BORN IN 1892 AND DIED IN 1956. THE MEDALS HAVE BEEN WORN WITH PRIDE AND SHOW SOME POLISHING AND CONTACT MARKS FROM THE STAR. AWARDED TO A BRAVE MAN WHO SAW THE WHOLE WAR THROUGH FROM START TO FINISH BEING TWICE WOUNDED.
