For sale is a very rare Italian WW1 trench knife (pugnale da trincea). These were made from obsolete Carcano bayonets and used by specialist stormtroopers of the Italian army (Arditi). This particular one has been personalised on the handle. One side bears the Arditi war cry "A noi" and a skull clenching a dagger. The other side bears the text "Fiume" and XXII.
The XXII stands for the 22th assault division. Was a disputed city after the war. A small part of the XXII joined the famous poet Gabriele d'Annunzio in the occupation of Fiume.Overall a very nice and rare object!
