Model 1916 camo helmet showing regulation camouflage pattern on laid out in Order 11 No. 91 366 and signed by Ludendorff. It stipulated that helmets should be painted in several colours all in keeping with the relevant seasons.
This helmet is handpainted in the turtle shell pattern. It retains about 80-85% of the paint. The colours are still very vivid. The different shades of brown is separated by black lines. Helmet is a size 64 by looking at the step on the side lugs. 3 leather pads are present and the pockets of these leather pads are filled with straws.
