Ww1 Princess Mary Xmas Gift Tin With Contents Captain Royal Artillery

Serving as a poignant reminder of the Great War, is this 1914 Princess Mary Gift Tin given to Captain H. Bear of the Royal Artillery, who lived in Rainham, Kent. The tin remains in very good condition with the detail still crisp.

Constructed in brass the tin measures 5 1/8" (w) and 3 3/8" (d), all seams and joints are sound with no splits or dents. The contents consist of: packet of tobacco, unopened; pack of cigarettes (opened, slightly crushed) with 7 cigarettes remaining; pencil & holder, stamped'sterling silver' and brass shell case bearing the Princess' monogram christmas card and envelope, the latter is missing the fold over flap and small tear to the back. The envelope shows signs of age related darkening. The tin also includes the calling card of Captain H.
