Offered for service/repair is this military issue Royal Flying Corps Doxa cockpit watch. All parts are original and the watch is in good cosmetic condition. 52mm nickel case is excellent. Hinged dust cover and snapback case back marked with broad arrow / pheon for military issue, and A for Air Ministry. Black dial with Arabic numerals and lumed hour markers is near mint. Signed 50 HOURS LUMINOUS MARK V and BE2075. BE was the allocated code for DOXA as these watches were manufactured by several Swiss houses. Movement signed DOXA and SWISS MADE. These watches were issued to RFC (predecessor of Royal Air Force) pilots during WW1. The watch would slot into a compartment in the cockpit during the flight before being removed post flight. Pilots who were shot down, but lucky enough to survive, were under strict instructions to retrieve their watch. Watch comes in delightful case made of leather and sterling silver, hallmarked A Bros Ltd for. Adie Brothers Ltd, anchor for Birmingham and date letter Z for 1924.
