It incorporated a three-pad liner system with a canvas or leather chinstrap, a feature first adopted in the Model 2 (and, no doubt, borrowed from the German Model 1916). The firm of Hale and Kilburn produced about 2,000 Model 5 experimental helmets.
Unlike the Model 2 or Model 8, this helmet design actually saw limited testing in the trenches in France at the end of WWI. This helmet would appear to have seen action with the owners initials on the liner. The helmet also has its original camo paint with sand finish. The liner is mostly there with one pad missing on all these helmet the liners are missing or been replaced with Adrian liners. This helmet is in very nice original condition.Legal action will be taken with photos reproduced without our prior permission.
