This is an amazing personal archive of a Northern Vermont WW1 Army Officer who was stationed mostly at Camp Meade in MD. The carrying case is something I haven't seen another one similar. All the papers have been there since the War. Would have been for an Officer, which this guy was.
Case measures 12" by 8" when closed and 19" by 12" open. Made of khaki with fitted interior for a Calendar, Letter Opener and a Pen, now missing. Also, a removeable blue writing surface Blotter with some ink stains. Oses with both a Snap and 2 straps/buckles. S a brass US insignia button that's original to the case.
A pocket inside holds the roughl. Y 35-piece paper document archive of Lt. Lots of his actual Orders and Transfers, family letter, a receipt for when he was issued his HORSE and related equipment, later 1955 White House letter, Menu from 1919 Dinner for TYREE RHODES RIVERS at Camp Meade. Neat Map of Camp Meade that folds up and lots of other great stuff. A time capsule of WW1.
