WW1 World War One 1916 British Union Jack Flag 210cm Long Large

I bought this in an antique shop in France in Lille as was intrigued by the wonder of what story is behind a British World War One flag in France. This World War I flag is spectacular and great condition considering its age. Could be naval with the rope hanging.
