I have his Alpha with collar discs, unit patch, discharge stripe, 3 OS Chevs and 2 wound stripes. Has his qualification badge, ribbons and fourragere. I also have his painted Brodie helmet with EGA. Has the 2nd 6th MG patch painted on the front.
I also have his back pack, utility belt, canteen. Back pack has his serial number on it. The back pack also includes the meat can pack as well as the tins. There are several bring backs as well. Several German medals, a Stahlhelm and Picklehaub. The Stahlhelm has shell burst damage to the top of it. The pickelhaub was in pieces when I got it.The plate was off etc. There was a spike in the box but it really doesn't belong on this helmet. This is an NCO helmet and the spike is an officers. I put a repo chin strap on the picklehaub so the cockades stay in place.
I have several photos of him as well. There is a US flag that has the 2nd 6th patch sewn to is and some French writing.
Im guessing this hung in the HQ or similar place. I have his trench periscope , bolo, cut down bayonet, M-1903 A3-03 bayonet and scabbard. He carried an Eddystone, however, so these were extra. The canvas cover for the 03 was missing from the scabbard so I got a really nice repo for my display. He got out of the Corps in May 1919 but re-enlisted a month later. So I have his M-1910 khaki he wore post war to 1923 which has sergeants stripes.
I have a second helmet that is not painted and has an ega. The holster is a Rock Island Arsenal Issue and is dated 1912. It has his name and serial number carved into it.
The only pieces I was not able to get were his Silver Star and purple heart. They said he was buried with them. I have researched his service and have actually been to his grave outside of Cincinnati. I have a photo of his grave marker. I also have some original documents that Marines received upon discharge. The only issue is somewhere along the line they were glued to backing. This is about as complete a grouping as one can get.Several different parts of his family had different pieces of this. I was able, over time, to get these pieces together. I have done significant research on Sgt.
I will include that as well. Richard George Boone 11 Jan 1897 - 20 Dec 1950. His grave marker has Richard George Boone Ohio Sgt. US Marine Corps World War 1 SS - PH & GS. Enlisted 26 Apr 1917, AEF 4 Nov 1917 to 27 Dec 1918.
USNH Washington DC 19 Jan 1919, Discharged 29 Mar 1919. Re-enlisted 31 May 1919 and discharged again 30 May 1923 with the rank of Sergeant.
The campaigns he was in; Aisne, Champagne-Marne, St. He received wounds 10 June 1918 and 3 Oct 1918.I do not take measurements.
