The bag does not appear to have had a lot of usage, please see photos for condition. All seams are intact, no fraying. There is a seam repair on the right side bag, see photo. This is an original item. Hard to find these in this condition.
The M1912 Ration Bag was a set of heavy duck canvas which could be used in two ways. First, as two separate bags suspended from the rear of a saddle on each side of a horse to hold the trooper's rations.
Secondly, the two bags could be could be laced together to make a shoulder knapsack if the trooper were dismounted. There was also a common Unauthorize use of the bag by the US Medical Corps as a Medic bag to store their medical supplies. Example have been noted with Medical Stencils added. This would make a welcomed addition to any WWI Collection. Check out my other items.
