They are made of heavy duct canvas with blacken brass fittings. The suspenders are used, see photos for Condition. Some minor soiling from prior usage. There are no visible markings or dates on the canvas.
The buckles have the Mills patent date. The rear strap appears to be slightly different from the front straps, I suspect it is a replacement from another set of suspenders. Don't miss this opportunity to add these to your WWI Collection. The M1903 Suspenders were the 1st pattern suspenders that were used with the M1903 Cartridge Belt.
These were ONLY produced by Mills. They were only in production for a few year and not produced in very large quantities. They were replaced by the M1907 and later the M1918 suspenders. The M1903 Suspenders are seldom encountered for sale. This would make an interesting addition to your WWI Collection. These are missing from most WWI Collections. Check out my other items.
