Hard to find WWI British Indian Trooper's/ Officer's Saber. Blade: 30.2 (76.8cm). Overall Length: 36 (91.4 cm).
Sword in scabbard, overall length: 37.5 (95 cm). Wood Grips, steel guard, very high quality steel blade with half moon mark. Some movement to hilt, would be reduced by a replacement leather washer at base of blade. Just gave a non-intrusive and gentle wipe-down. Scabbard with steel chape and leather covered wood body. Leather in good condition, slight fraying to lower top section, overall good with no major problems.Sword sits fairly tight when pushed completely into scabbard. These excellent troops were also used in the Middle East in the struggle against Ottoman Turkey. This piece has excellent balance and in my opinion is a much better weapon than contemporary British cavalry swords. Formerly had leather covering to grips with fine copper wire binding.
This has worn off through use, one stand of wire in place also small sections of leather remaining. Nice salty, actually used WW1 piece.
