As I understand its a WWI GERMAN M16 helmet. It has label residue around the exterior of the helmet. As was explained to me, this was a practice soldiers used to send items (souvenirs if you will) like this home.
Some print and the label remains as pictured. As can be seen, not all of the liner is there.
What I find cool are the little pockets inside of what does remain of the liner. Imagine the German soldier putting stuff in it. Maybe some coins, maybe a folded up letter from home, who knows what he may have used it for. The helmet is stamped on the inside of the top. That can be seen in the picture. Be sure to check out the pictures for condition of this item.
I think for being over 100 years old, its in really good condition minus the loss of the liner. Would be a great addition to a collection.
