WWI GERMAN MAUSER ERSATZ BAYO-CARTER #56-RARE-VG CONDITION-ANGLED GRIP GROOVES

Very good condition and guaranteed original WWI Imperial German Mauser ersatz bayonet that is shown as example #56 in Carters book. Carter also states that this model of bayonet may have been made specifically for the Wurttemberg army. Bayonet has a sharp clear Fraktur letter proof mark on the left side of the blade ricasso.

Blade has original bright finish with some scattered brown and gray. Thick sheet metal grip has brown and gray patina with correct machined grooves. Fitted in an original 98/05 Mauser butcher bayonet scabbard that has mostly brown metal finish with a couple of minor dings. Also complete with correct original leather frog that is nicely maker marked and dated 1916.

Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching and rivets are nice and tight. A very rare WWI German ersatz bayonet that will make an excellent advanced addition to your collection.
