WWI M1915 A1 Military Periscope Rabbit Ear Trench Binoculars & Original Case

Stunning and rare ww1 battery commanders rabbit/donkey ears complete with original leather carrying case. This version was the M 1915 A1 used for observing enemy movement in the trenches as well as range finding and engineering purposes. The optics are clear focussing well with the odd optic scar. All movable parts are fully adjustable free moving. An excellent piece of ww1 memorabilia as we move through the centennial commemorations.

Leather small and large lens covers. Spare pair of small lenses. Leather case: M 1917 A1. Case measures 16.5" by 9" by 8.25 and weighs 19lb 3oz (with periscope).

Periscope measures 16" by 6.5" by 6.75. In good used condition with marks commensurate with age and use.

Leather case: has some scratches and nicks to the leather, missing 2 straps that would have attached across the top to keep it closed whilst carrying it, needs repair work to the front top corner where the leather is coming apart and needs to be re-sewn (this could be easily resolved by a good cobbler). Periscope: the larger lens covers have torn from the original leather attachment to the periscope and are now detached (they still fit snug when placed on the periscope but should hang from it when removed instead of detaching completely). One of the small lens leather covers is coming apart at the seam but could also be repaired.

There is some chipping to the green paintwork. Spare Lenses: one of the spare small lenses shows signs of oxidization with paint chipping.
