This is the story of the owner. Carl Marietta: Carl was married in 1919 after he got back to the states. However It does not appear that Carl had any kids. So no evidence found thus far of any direct descendants.

Carl had three siblings, not much of anything found there either. Can be tricky when trying to go forward 3-4 generations later. Carls mother was one of eleven kids... She had four with Carls dad...

Then remarried to a guy that already have seven kids. The Marietta family appears to have originated from Ohio. Most including Carls dad was living in Eaton Rapids / Ingham Co Mich.

/// Carl was living and working in Lansing when he registered and enlisted. Remained living in Lansing listed in 1930 and 1942. Yet when he died he was buried in Eaton. Most of the 119th FA was made up of Michigan National Guard units that got called up.

The 119th action records are quite remarkable... They were in action for nearly 5 months straight...

The engagements inscribed on the lighter are just a few of the larger battles and campaigns they were in.. Lots and lots of other combat actions they were also involved in..
