Offered here is an original U. Army World War I M1910 Infantry Haversack, complete and unmodified, manufactured by Perkins-Campbell Co.
This is a correct, complete example of the standard U. Infantry pack issued during America's involvement in WWI. The integral front pouch (often mistaken as an add-on) is original and sewn as part of the haversack, as designed. The Model 1910 Haversack was adopted by the U. Army as part of the M1910 load-bearing equipment system and saw widespread service during World War I.
It was designed to integrate with the M1910 cartridge belt and suspenders, allowing soldiers to carry rations, clothing, shelter halves, and personal gear. The system required the soldier to lay out his equipment, fold the canvas body around the load, and secure it with straps-an approach that was functional but cumbersome. While serviceable, it was widely criticized by troops for being slow to pack and difficult to access, leading to its eventual replacement by improved designs after the war.
Original WWI examples dated 1917 are particularly desirable, as they represent peak wartime production during U. Original WWI canvas with excellent structural integrity. Canvas remains supple and flexible, not dry or brittle.
Correct ink stamp: PERKINS CAMPBELL 1917. Typical rust transfer staining from period equipment (see photos). No major tears, no rot, no post-war modifications. All straps, stitching, and hardware present.
This is a well-preserved, field-used example, not a reproduction and not a rebuilt or incomplete pack. Please review all photos carefully-they are part of the description.
