WWI Model 1889 German Prussian Infantry Officers Sword. The ricasso is marked with a Kings head and a Knights head and W. That stands Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.
The brass guard and grip move a very small amount if you force them. The grip is 95% complete, there are two slices to the grip and one spot with a 1/8" x 1/4" hole. The thickest strand of twisted wire is complete but one thinner strand is gone and the other thinner strand is only half complete. There are two cyphers on the grip, the classic Wilhelm the II cypher and a silver horn cypher is slightly over the bottom of the other. The leather finger loop is gone.
The double fullered blade is straight, heavily sharpened (minor surface rust on the sharpened edge), the tip is blunted, and has nicks on the lower quarter. Length of the blade measures 31 3/8" (7/8" wide x 1/4" thick spine), and overall length of the sword is 37". Check out my other War items!!
