WWI WW1 BOB FORD Collection-1st Division 2nd Signals Bn S Star, PH & OLC HELMET
Bob's best divisional set, and one of the few combination groups that elude most WWI collectors. You see the medals, both are government named, the S S is serial numbered 5946 with BBB marks. The P H is serial numbered 11012. Matching original ribbon bars, a set that is loose and another set on the tunic. Rare OLC to the P H. Plus a small device on ribbon. Enamel lapel pins to match. Victory medal w/ 4 bars.

CdG with star from France. Small enamel 1st Div lapel pin.

Victory medal colored lapel rosette. Unit numbered discs (US/2 & signals), the ones on the rough cut tunic are plain US and Signals. Tunic is unlined and THICK BLANKET WOOL. Has matching bullion tape stripes as follows: 3 OS chevrons, 2 wound chevrons.

A thick 1st Division patch and a discharge stripe are also present. Doughboy helmet is painted with 1st Division patch to front, liner present, bottom half of chinstrap has been purposely taken off and replaced with a 30's or 40's cloth one which is attached to the helmet bales, not the leather strap section, for legion or parade use I assume.

Both metal fittings/D Dales on the upper leather strap are present if one wanted to put a leather one back on. Not pictured are various american legion pieces related to his interest in target shooting, and a legion hat. Extremely rare foreign printed 2nd Signals Battalion unit history, all there and nice, but binding is loose, many notes and marks inside, this man is mentioned twice. A burial note from ancestry shows his award of the P H twice, as you can see on the top of its' reverse side.

Note from man's daughter about the medals. They came to Bob at different times. I seem to recall the medals coming first, the rest later, after an estate clearance. These lots are from the divisional' collection of the pioneer WWI collector and historian Bob Ford, my close friend. The group originally included one identified group from EVERY WWI division from 1 to 93, including all the stateside units who wore shoulder patches, and many if not most came from the family of the veteran, the veteran himself or an agent of their family. All lots are unconditionally guaranteed to be genuine and as shown. See image and title for any info, and ask any questions you may have!
