Basic research shows F/Sgt Williams as being part of 51 Squadron based at RAF Snaith. He was onboard a Mk II Halifax bomber (serial number BE244) when it crashed during a mission on at 2146 hours on 29-30/03/1943. The crash was at Delden in Holland and he was taken prisoner of war by the Germans. He spent the rest of the war in Stalag 357 and his POW number was 42731.
There is a Defence medal and Special Constabulary pair, with long service bars for 1948 and 1954, to 1215 Charlie Williams of the North Riding Constabulary (Yorkshire). A 1937 Coronation medal (possibly also to Charlie but un-named), a WWI Services Rendered badge, a WWI 1916 On War Service badge and an MID rosette. Medal boxes are present for Charlie and E Williams.The box to E Williams was delivered to 35 Birch St, Jarrow. A nice group with plenty of scope for further research.
